What is a National Hairdresser Day?
This year, the International Hairdressers Federation (IHF) announced a National Hairstyling Day on May 1st.
The IHF is a trade association for hairdressing companies, and the day is meant to celebrate the “great hair care products and services” that hairdresses have to offer.
However, in the UK, the day has been overshadowed by the hair-care scandal surrounding the Royal Mail scandal, and people are calling for a national hairdeam day.
However this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t celebrate a day that is all about hair care, it just means that a day dedicated to hairdyling doesn’t have to be a big deal.
Hairstylists, however, aren’t going to be in a rush to celebrate a national day like that, and many are planning to celebrate National Hairdressing Day as a way to show support for their industry.
Hairstylist Joanna Wicks says she is “not a fan of the hairdresser scandals”, and says she doesn’t believe in “trying to change the industry or change the culture of hairdryers”.
She says she would prefer to be seen as a “caregiver” instead of a “hairdressers” Hairdresser Wicks, who has been in the business for over 25 years, has been working with women for more than 20 years, and has also been in charge of hair and make-up.
She says that she’s always been interested in hair styling, and says that hairstylisting was “a natural extension” of her profession.
“I always wanted to do it.
I thought it was just about hair.
The only thing that I wasn’t happy with was the hair colour.
I didn’t like how dark it looked.
It just didn’t look right,” she said.
She says she has noticed a shift in attitudes to hairstyles and hair, with many hairderers now feeling more confident about their skills.
“I think a lot of it has to do with the social acceptance that women have in the hair industry.
I think people are actually starting to look at their hair, whether it’s a bob cut, whether they have a mullet or a bob.
It’s a natural progression from when I started out.”
She also believes that people in the industry are becoming more accepting of people with different haircuts and make ups.
“People are really open and accepting of different people’s hair, and I think that’s a good thing,” she says.
Wicks says that for people with darker hair, it can be harder to find the right hairdo.
“We know that if you have darker hair you might have to have a hair dye.
We know that hair dye affects the texture of your hair.
We also know that it affects your skin tone,” she adds.
According to Joanna, people who have darker, frizzy hair are often asked to take on a more professional look, and are often more likely to use make-ups.
‘You can’t go wrong with a haircut’ “We know hair has to be done professionally, you can’t make a mistake with a haircut,” says Joanna.
“You can do a little too much on top of it and not look natural.”
“When you see a man in a barber shop and he’s wearing a suit, he’s probably going to have his hair done properly, because the suit’s going to make his look better.
It depends on the style, but if you want to go in for a hair cut and have a really dark, messy, unkempt hair, that’s probably not going to happen.
It might be more appropriate to go with a simple make-over and a simple haircut.”
‘I can’t wait to start the next stage of my life’ She adds that the next step for her in life will be to “make a change”.
“I want to start to get back into my normal life,” she explains.
“But I think it’s really important to get a haircut.”
“I can honestly say that the more I learn about hair, the more confident I become in my own hair, which is really exciting for me.”
